Bienvenue en Français intermédiaire 1
General description
Welcome to FRN 201! This course targets non-native speakers of French, and it is for students at the intermediate level (who have completed four years of high school French or FRN102).
This comprehensive course is designed to promote communicative proficiency in four areas: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. This class is geared towards communication in French: instead of learning about the language, you will learn to communicate your thoughts and ideas in the language. To help you immerse yourself, you will be provided with texts, videos, and audio clips in French. You will interpret and discuss these materials interactively
in order to promote your understanding of spoken and written French, expand your vocabulary, increase your familiarity with grammatical structures and expose yourself with the norms, practices, and perspectives of Francophone cultures.
This course will be taught almost exclusively in French and will be fast- spaced. Therefore, make sure that this is the right class for you.
In this course, we will cover three themes from the textbook: “La vie scolaire et extra-scolaire,” “la vie et ses célébrations : fêtes et traditions,” and “La vie professionnelle.”
