1 Syllabus Scavenger Hunt

Work with your team to accomplish the following tasks and learn a bit about the course expectations and requirements.  Pay particular attention to all requirements on the document, including crayon color and use.

 

Tools that are needed for the Syllabus Scavenger Hunt (per group)

  • 1 copy of the syllabus
  • 1 red crayon, 1 green crayon, 1 orange crayon , 1 yellow crayon, 1 blue crayon, 1 purple crayon, 1 pink crayon (not all at once, but you can find them throughout the class)
  • We will all share some crayons, if someone has a color you need. Then kindly ask. When you ask, also ask their name and give them yours if you do not already know them.
  • 1 Additional piece of paper to write your answers
  • Legible handwriting

 

Lets Begin, here are your tasks. Complete each task in the time required.  (use your blank piece of paper for answers and number it correctly) If you complete all tasks correctly (then a reward can be offered dependent upon the class).

  1. Meet your group members. Write the name (first and last) of each group member and where each group member is from.  (each group member choose a color that they like)
  2. Think of a Super Awesome Team Name, write your team name on the paper in the color(s) of your choosing.
  3. Find a green crayon, on your syllabus circle or box in the section which shows my office location and office ours. On your answer key write down my office hours in green.
  4. Find a blue crayon. Box in or circle the section of the syllabus that is Titled “Learning environment”.  With your group…. read the Learning environment description. Come up with three words that help summarize what I am trying to convey in that statement and write them down on your answer key in blue.
  5. Find an orange crayon. Box in or Circle the area on your syllabus that is titled “homework”. Use your orange crayon to answer two questions.  How many attempts do you get at each homework?  How many free homework passes will you get during this semester?
  6. Find a purple crayon.  Circle or box in the area titled “Discussions”.  Also use that crayon to write the answer to this question.  How many discussions do you need to complete during the semester?
  7. Find a pink crayon. Circle or Box in the area titled “email correspondence”.  Read this statement with your group members.  Use the pink crayon to answer this question.  How long should you expect to wait for an email response from me?
  8. Find a yellow crayon. Circle or box in the date for the Final exam.  Using any color crayon you wish… write down the time and date for the final exam for this class.
  9. Find any color crayon you choose. Circle or box in the area that lists the required text for this course.  Write down the required text on your answer sheet in any color pen, pencil, or crayon.
  10. In pen or pencil or any crayon you like…. circle or box in the section of the syllabus labeled “Chat GPT and other AI”.  Read this statement and discuss what it means with your team members.
